- Increased storage – The ID buzz uses a large flat battery pack underneath the veneer flooring. This has the benefit of not needing a bonnet, with the ID Buzz offering a luggage compartment in the front.

What was the inspiration behind the Volkswagen ID Buzz model?
Chief designer Einar Castillo craved a modern design that steered away from the retro look. And after growing up with Beetles and Transporters in his native Mexico, who can blame him? You just can’t beat a classic! Instead, he focused on curving the corners and flattening the rear, which not only makes it look super slick, but also makes it a tad nippier, aerodynamically speaking!
Inside, the dash is a blank canvas, with just the mere presence of a hip garden gnome that’s imitating the buddha pose. We have an inkling this might be a throwback reference to the old T2 dashboard bud vase, at least he doesn’t need watering!
This is one of three Electric Vehicles Volkswagen are releasing as part of the ID range, but did you know that this isn’t the first electric campervan from Volkswagen? They actually released the “Elektro Bus” in Germany during the 1970’s however only 70 were produced.The ID Buzz Campervan was initially displayed at the North American International Auto Show at the start of 2017, but following an overwhelmingly positive reaction, VW boss Herbert Diess revealed that it will become a production car, but don’t get your money ready just yet. You’ll have to wait until 2022 to get your hands on one.
