Over the last two years we have been running the ‘Trucker of the Year’ competition, in association with Trucking Magazine. We all know how hard the UK’s truckers work to keep our economy ticking, that’s why we decided to celebrate the brilliant job that they do and give them the recognition they deserve.
We take a look back to our 2016 winner, Russell and also catch up with him to see how he’s are getting on.

Our 2016 Winner: Russell Oliver
In 2016 we faced some tough decisions, with well over 150 brilliant nominations being made, but in the end we chose Russell Oliver as our winner. Russell works hard both on the road and at home and is always willing to offer a helping hand and support the industry:

Catching up with Russell…
We caught up with Russell to find out what he’s been up to and what advice he would give to future Trucker of the Year winners.
How did it feel to win Trucker of the Year 2016?
It felt good to get trucker of the year knowing I done something really good for someone else and to show anyone could win it.
What have you been up to since you won the competition?
I’ve been doing all sorts! I’ve just finished a stint in Europe and I’m back in the UK working now for a bit more family time.
What are your plans for the rest of 2017?
Who knows what 2017 will bring, my life is so busy! I’m car shopping for my eldest daughter Farren at the moment, family first.
If you could give one piece of advice to future Trucker of the Year winners, what would it be?
My advice for a future Trucker of the Year is try help someone everyday even if it’s just helping them reverse on a bay or roll up a sheet.
