As personal vehicle insurance specialists we are looking forward to seeing what new and exciting cars the motor industry will be releasing to the public next year. From affordable hatchbacks, 4x4s and SUVs, to head turning luxury motors and jaw dropping super cars, 2017 is set to be an exciting year for avid petrol heads and everyday drivers alike.
In this blog we will take a look at some of the vehicles set for release in 2017.
Ford Fiesta
The Fiesta is the most popular car that Ford produces, it’s also been the best ever selling new car in the UK. That means there’s plenty of expectation around the car giant’s launch of the revamped supermini.
We will see some big changes to the new Fiesta; the car will be larger and will include some new design features such as a lower flatter nose and new tail-lamps. But the main changes will be found on the vehicles interior, with a major overhaul of the cars infotainment system – including a touch screen display and upgraded hands-free software. Drivers will also benefit from additional space inside with a higher quality finish to that of previous Fiestas. Starting prices for this car are set to be around £13,000 mark.
BMW 5 Series
The BMW 5 series is one of the most recognisable exec-saloons and plays an important role for BMW as the bridge between the 3 Series and the luxury 7 Series saloon. The 7th generation vehicle will be slightly longer and wider than previous models and sits on a new chassis which will shave off 100kg of weight.
It seems BMW are beginning to develop vehicles that will rival Tesla’s Model S, with the 5 Series being treated to some advanced autonomous features such as; Active Cruise Control and Lane Keeping assist functions, where the vehicle supports steering and keeps the car in the centre of the lane. A plug-in hybrid version of the car will also be available. Estimated starting prices for this car are set to be around £33,000 with the release date in February 2017.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio
Possibly the most exciting SUV to be coming out in 2017 is Alfa Romeo’s Stelvio. This is the first foray into the SUV market for the Italian car makers. It will feature the iconic Alfa front grille, alongside aggressive styling. The top of the range Quadrifoglio Verde will also house a 2.9 litre engine, kicking out a tasty 503 bhp and sprint time of 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds with the ability to hit 177mph, putting it in direct competition with other big hitting offerings from Porsche and Mercedes.
The release date for the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is set for mid-to-late 2017, with estimated starting prices at £39,000.
Mercedes AMG GT Roadster
Having launched the AMG GT coupe earlier in 2016, the Roadster version is set to hit the showrooms in autumn 2017 with a price tag starting at £100,000. This stunning roadster will come in two guises, the standard GT Roadster, producing 476bhp and the GT Roadster C which will push out 557bhp. Both versions of the Roadster will house the latest AMG tuned 4.0-litre engine, which must be one of the most amazing sounding engines out there (just listen to it in the video!). The AMG GT C Roadster also benefits from some nice touches, such as rear-wheel steering and adaptive dampers to improve performance.
Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Following on from the release of the beautiful Aston Martin DB11, the new V8 Vantage is due for release in late 2017. The small Aston will share similar head turning styling to that of the DB10 which featured in the most recent James Bond film Spectre. Power comes courtesy of the Mercedes 4.0 litre V8 engine, the same as the AMG GT. The V8 Vantage will also buck the trend for automatic gear boxes in new sports cars and feature a 6-speed manual gear box.
Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta
The Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta must be one of the most exciting cars to be released next year (however a few lucky celebrities have already got their hands on the £1million plus hypercar). Powering this staggering car is a 6.3-litre V12 engine coupled with a 120kW electric motor drive train, boasting an eye-watering 789bhp. With 0-60 times coming in less than 3 seconds and top speeds of 215mph, this car is not for the faint hearted.
Unfortunately, even if you had a spare £1 million lying around, you won’t be able to get your hands on one; all 200 models for sale to the public or Ferrari’s clients have already sold out.
